Cancelled: 2021 Trail of Honor:
Over the past year we have continued with planning for the 2021 Trail of Honor, to include some new and exciting exhibits, demonstrations, and guests. We have formed new partnerships, and look forward to continue working with all our Sponsors to present what has become a Premier Veterans Event and Experience. We have also been in numerous continued discussions concerning the COVID-19 Protocols and Safety Requirements that must be in place in order to insure the safety of the hundreds of volunteers, re-enactors, and VIPs, as well as the thousands of guests that visit the Trail of Honor each year.
We have tirelessly worked through precautionary plans and preventative measures. As we would satisfactorily solve one concern, another would inevitably become apparent. These concerns include but are not limited to, social distancing, sanitation of facilities and equipment, food handling, and water stations to name a few.
The Trail of Honor Board of Directors have weighed the options, costs, and risk associated with a gathering as unique as the Trail of Honor, one that brings together the general public with living historians and some of our Nation’s Heroes, at times in very close proximity.
With the Trail of Honor Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Escort being 2 months from today, we had to make a decision on how we are to proceed. The Trail of Honor Board of Directors, taking all things into consideration, has voted that the cancelation of the 2021 Trail of Honor is in the best interest for our future success and longevity. Considering all the underlying factors and requirements to move forward with the event, there really was no feasible work around.
We will meet again next month, to begin formulating our plans for the 2022 Trail of Honor and how we can make this event bigger and better than ever before.
The Southern Connection Police Supply previously donated an item for raffle. Sales of raffle tickets will continue with the drawing now set for 22 May 2022. All previously purchased tickets remain valid and will be included in this rescheduled draw.
I would like to thank The Board of Directors, I see personally how this decision impacts each of them. I also want to thank our volunteer staff and the re-enactors for their many years of dedication to making the Trail of Honor the event it has come to be. Last but certainly not least, thank you Earl for your commitment to Honor and Remember our Veterans.
Godspeed and Never Forget
